A killer box
Jan 22, 2009 iThoughts
So what was in the box that when lifted resulted in a pulled muscle in Cheney’s back? And why was he moving it himself? I am sure that there were plenty of movers available. If not movers, there at least had to be a dolly. Was it a porn collection? Maybe it was a box full White House silverware. Whatever it was there was something very “heavy”. And if the contents were combustible I bet they are nothing but ashes now.
An Historic Day and Poetry
Jan 20, 2009 iThoughts
It was an historic day today, a proud day for Americans. It was reported that almost 2 million people crowded in to view the inauguration of our first black president. It was an impressive ceremony. President Obama’s speech was as always eloquent. He has brought optimism to these uncertain times. And I was surprised to see that he is a lefty. And I thought the news coverage was well done. From the camera shots to the commentary it was all very respectful and informative.
However I didn’t get the poem. I am sure the poet is a very nice lady. But, what was that? For me a poem should rhyme somewhere. For example Edgar Allen Poe’s The Raven: Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary. It should be a bit lyrical and concise. I have written poems. One of my early works appears below. Enjoy.
A lady at lunch very nice
Found the bread basket did entice
…..The baguette she did butter
…..And with no words being uttered
She stuck it in the wrong orifice.

Internet Pages vs. Literary Pages
Jan 18, 2009 iThoughts
In the sixties there was a fear that television would replace reading. The concern was that children who watched television would ditch their books. The dire prediction did not come true. More recently people worried that the internet would replace books in the lives of children. From what I have seen that hasn’t happen either. On the contrary I think the internet has created increased interest in books.
I speak from experience. I got pulled into the Twilight phenomenon because of the internet. While surfing the internet looking for a romance novel for some leisure reading I kept running into Twilight. Normally I wouldn’t be interested in a young adult romance novel. However there was so much twitter, blogging and postings about Twilight curiosity got the best of me. I started on page one of Twilight and didn’t stop until the final page of Breaking Dawn….phew!!
I am not here to review the book. In no way do I want to catch the wrath of the millions of fans. But for me there was one thing I took away from the book. I never could get the hot guy in high school and when I look back on my high school years I am reminded of that pain. Stephanie Meyer has made me feel much better about myself. I now know that the hot guy was a vampire…and the second hottest was a werewolf. ..again, phew!

Dad and the most powerful force on earth.
Jan 12, 2009 Memories
Some of a woman’s fondest childhood memories are times she spent with her dad. My dad was a world class physicist. If I had a dad who was a musician I would have played music with him. If my dad was a carpenter I would have hammered nails with him. My dad was a physicist so I did physics with him.
When I was 6 years old I came up with my own theory of universal order. I noticed that when I woke up in the morning my shoes were not where I had left them. They were often under the bed but definitely they were not side by side as I had so carefully placed them the night before. So I went to my dad and told him my theory that the earth turns so fast gravity is not strong enough to hold things in place on the floor. He did the coolest thing; he respected my theory and suggested we test it.
That night after I took off my shoes we placed them on the wood floor in my bedroom and my dad took a piece of chalk and drew an outline of the shoes, like one of those crime scene body outlines. If my theory was true in the morning my shoes would be outside the line.
The next morning when I checked our experiment and saw that the shoes were still inside the chalk outline I had a corollary to my theory. If the force from the earth’s rotation is stronger than the force of gravity, chalk was stronger than both. Chalk keeps shoes in place.
Blog and Rants

My page to write what is on my mind. If you were smart you would listen, if you are genius you would take notes I have been looking forward to this for a long time. I have advice to give, observations to report and a lot on my mind that needs to be shared.
First of all I’m a baby boomer and I apologize for everything that is wrong in this world. We baby boomers are responsible for all that sucks in the world today. For instance, bicycle helmets…you are required to wear them whenever you are on a bike. You can buy a cool looking bike; however with the helmet you look like a nerd, cool no more. Baby boomers were concerned about cyclists hurting their heads. If we baby boomers wanted to stop bicycle injuries we should have just outlawed bicycles.
